Dr Brian MacVicar Hosts Research Colloquia September 19th, 3pm

Dr MacVicar hosts Dr Shernaz Bamji (UBC) as she presents her talk “Making Memories Stick: Cell Adhesion Molecules at the Synapse” Friday, September 19th in the Rudy North Theatre in the DMCBH at 2215 Wesbrook Mall from 3pm to 4pm.

This talk is part of the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health’s Research Colloquia talks.

Brian MacVicar hosts Dr Graham Collingridge

Brian MacVicar hosts Dr Graham Collingridge’s visit to the DMCBH this Friday. Dr. Collingridge will be meeting with DMCBH faculty and trainees, and presenting the NRC Seminar talk titled “Is neurodegeneration caused by LTD gone awry?”.

The talk will be held in the DMCBH Rudy North Lecture Hall in lower level of the DMCBH from 3pm until 4pm. Space is limited.

Move to Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health

Brian MacVicar will be moving his offices to the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health June 30th when Dr Max Cynader steps down as director. Dr MacVicar will be sharing the director’s office with Co-Director Dr Jon Stoessl in the 3rd floor administration area. His research office will be located on the 4th floor close to his lab.

The MacVicar lab makes the move to the DMCBH July 16th 2014.

Brian MacVicar appointed to Co-Director of the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health

Brian MacVicar was announced by the UBC Faculty of Medicine as the Co-Director of the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health Monday April 28th 2014. He and Dr Jon Stoessl will serve alongside Dr. Max Cynader until June 30, 2014 when Dr. Cynader step down as the Director. They will all be working with a transitional leadership team in the next few month.

MacVicar Lab moving to the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health Building

Dr MacVicar will be moving his entire lab to the new CBH building in late winter 2014. This new space will provide his trainees with the latest in lab design which will allow for a more interactive and collaborative approach to electrophysiology. Dr. MacVicar featured in Brain Research Centre’s Annual Report

Dr. MacVicar’s research on calcium channels, proteins that span the membrane of cells and allow calcium ions to flow through, is featured in the Brain Research Centre’s Annual Report for 2013.
